Fishing Report

July 27th, 2017

The rain we received during the week of July 24th bumped our rivers up, but more importantly helped lower the water temperature. We had a deluge on the evening of the 26th which put almost an inch of rain in Saratoga. The water is slightly off color due to the rain but nymphing and streamer fishing have been the most productive tactics. We are on the cusp of dry-fly season again as the Trico Hatch is still in its early stages. Tricos are the smallest Mayfly we have on the North Platte and Encampment Rivers and the hatching of these insects creates a phenomena that brings up some of the biggest fish in the river. We expect the Trico hatch to come into full-bloom in the coming weeks so stay tuned about dry-fly fishing.

Savery Creek is back up to 100 CFS which is a great flow for wade fishing. If you are interested in a full-day wade fishing option with the chance at big fish then Savery Creek is the best option. The high mountain lakes and streams are fishing red-hot and we can access the Upper Encampment, Big Creek, and 6 Mile to name a few...Please contact the Tackle Shop with any questions about wade fishing at this time of year.
